| Hackle
Neck Hackles come from around the neck of the rooster. Saddle Hackles
come from the hip of the rooster. There is a variety of natural colors: white, red,
black and mixed natural markings. Some of the names of the natural hackle are
badger, chinchilla, grizzly, furnace and red. The neck hackle is fluffy about one quarter the length of the feather at the bottom and the glossy smooth part is about three quarters of the length of the feather ending in a sharp point at the tip. The saddle hackle is fluffy about half the length of the feather and the glossy smooth tip is softer and more flexible then the neck hackle. Feather on the left is neck hackle dyed from the white feather. . Feather on the right is saddle hackle dyed from the natural feather. |

This is the tail feather of the rooster. Lengths run from about 4" to
18", some times longer depending on the size of the rooster. Coque come in a
variety of natural colors: white, red, black and mixed shades. Common names for
natural Coque are bronze or chinchilla. Prices quoted are for white, natural or bleached
feathers, dyed any color. A great feather for costumers adding dramatic impact to any design. |
